CLIL IN DUBLIN.Day 12

Good Morning!

Today was the last day of the course, we have made the closing ceremony and have given us our diplomas.

Right now I have mixed feelings...

I am happy. Happy with how it went the course, everything I've learned has come by as the exhibition of our work, for the very special people I've met and how much we've helped each other.

And so I'm very sad, it has been an enriching experience at all levels and as always when something good ends, I feel that empty feeling...

Well, just wanted to say, in conclusion, it was an unforgettable experience

Hoy ha sido el último día del curso, hemos hecho el acto de clausura y nos han dado nuestros diplomas.

Ahora mismo tengo una mezcla de sensaciones un poco extraña...

Estoy contento. Contento por como ha ido el curso, por todo lo que he aprendido, por como ha salido la exposición de nuestro trabajo, por las personas tan especiales que he conocido y lo mucho que nos hemos ayudado unos a otros.

Y por eso mismo estoy triste, ha sido una experiencia enriquecedora a todos los niveles y como siempre cuando acaba algo bueno, siento esa sensación de vacío.

Solo decir para terminar: Ha sido una experiencia inolvidable.

Today has been occupied by CLIL teamwork in our final task and the presentation of it.

In the afternoon we had a group activity in an authentic Irish pub where we learned to dance Irish songs (or at least we tried!)

Good Morning!

Today we had a very interesting about reading skills in the morning and assessment techniques afternoon class.

Later, we had a visit to see the Book of Kells, which is said to be the most beautiful book ever written and the truth is that it does not disappoint, it's amazing to be in front of that kind piece of art in such a spectacular library.

Hoy hemos tenido una clase muy interesante sobre destrezas de lectura por la mañana y de técnicas de evaluación por la tarde.

Más tarde, tuvimos la visita para ver el libro de kells, el que se dice que es el libro más bonito jamás escrito y la verdad es que no decepciona, es asombroso estar ante una pieza de arte así en una biblioteca tan espectacular.

Good Morning!

Today we visited the museum of writers, a great place carefully built, well preserved and with a cosy (for a museum) look.

In the afternoon we had a joint class with all CLIL teachers to share resources and ideas between us.

It has been very interesting to know the way that other teachers from different countries have to teach in their classes.

Hoy hemos visitado el museo de escritores, un sitio genial tanto por como esta cuidado como por el ambiente tan cálido (para ser un museo) que se respiraba dentro

Por la tarde hemos tenido una clase conjunta con todos los profesores de CLIL para compartir recursos e ideas entre nosotros.

Ha sido muy interesante ver la forma que tienen otros profesores de distintos países de plantear sus clases.

Museum Day!

Today we focused on the visit to the museum, doing a little introduction to what we would find in the morning and defining the activity after eating.

The museum is free and open to anyone who wants to take a trip in time through the ancient Celtic traditions of Ireland.

My group was particularly interested in the Viking invasions and we based our activity on it.

Hoy hemos centrado el día en la visita al museo, haciendo un poco de introducción de lo que íbamos a encontrar por la mañana y definiendo la actividad después de comer.

El museo es gratuito y está abierto a cualquiera que quiera hacer un viaje en el tiempo por las antiguas costumbres celtas de Irlanda.

Mi grupo se interesó especialmente por las invasiones vikingas y basamos nuestra actividad en ello.

CLIL IN DUBLIN.Day 4

Good Morning!

Today we had a busy morning, advancing learning in CLIL. Full of examples and practical exercises, talking to my colleagues, have made us feel a little elementary students again, so we could say it was a very productive morning

In the evening comes the highlight of the day. The international dinner, where everyone had to bring something typical of our country to, together, create a varied dinner as possible. It was a success, noticed two things:

The Spanish table was soooo full that not even a pin could fill on it.

Hoy hemos tenido una mañana ocupada, avanzando en el aprendizaje de la metodología CLIL. Llena de ejemplos y ejercicios prácticos que, hablando con mis compañeros, nos han hecho sentir un poco alumnos de primaria de nuevo, así que se puede decir que ha sido una mañana muy productiva

Por la tarde llega el plato fuerte del día. La cena internacional, donde cada uno teníamos que traer algo típico de nuestro país para, entre todos, crear una cena lo más variada posible. Fue un éxito, cabe destacar dos cosas:

-    las delicias turras de azúcar me conquistaron por completo

-    La mesa española estaba a rebosar, no cabía ni un alfiler más.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 3

Good Morning!

Today I managed to get up a little earlier (7:30) and run a little on the campus, they have an incredible rugby pitch in perfect condition. It is very rewarding to see how well they care their facilities

Shower, breakfast and ready for the day.

Today it's a very interesting topic: scaffolding and its theoretical basis in CLIL. Like yesterday, the theoretical course load has been very big, but given in an active and enjoyable way.

After class, I've met some companions to go to the science museum and get ideas for the final work , and later, at 20:00 to meet the most touristy Dublin.

Hoy he conseguido levantarme un poco antes (07:30) y correr un poco por el campus, que tienen un increíble campo de rugby en perfecto estado. Es muy reconfortante ver lo bien cuidado que tienen las instalaciones

Ducha, desayuno y listo para el día de hoy.

Hoy toca un tema muy interesante: andamiaje y su base teórica en CLIL. Igual que ayer, la carga teórica del curso ha sido grande, pero dada de una forma activa y amena.

Después de clase, nos hemos juntado algunos compañeros para ir al museo de ciencia del campus y coger ideas para el trabajo final y más tarde, a las 20:00 para conocer el Dublín más turístico.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 2

Good morning!

Today they have divided us in the working groups for the next two weeks, in my group we are 18 people (of which only 5 are Spanish) so although we are many on the campus, in my group we are a minority, which is an advantage to don't miss the point and communicate in our language, so  less spanish people = more english hehe.

We had a day full of theory and concepts based on CLIL. All teached by our tutor (very dynamic and fun).

At 15:30 we finished, leaving the afternoon to get to know the city of Dublin.

Hoy nos han dividido en los grupos de trabajo para las siguientes dos semanas, en mi grupo somos 18 personas (de las cuales solo 5 somos españoles) así que aunque somos muchos por el campus, en mi grupo somos minoría, lo cual es una ventaja para no caer en comunicarnos en nuestro idioma, menos españoles = mas inglés jeje.

Hemos tenido un día cargado de teoría y nuevos conceptos sobre la base de CLIL. Todo ello expuesto por nuestra tutora de una forma bastante dinámica y divertida.

A las 15:30 hemos terminado, dejando la tarde para empezar a conocer la ciudad de Dublín.

CLIL IN DUBLIN. Day 1

Hello everybody!

Let's begin the adventure! I arrived yesterday at Dublin airport and right now, the temperature is awesome (about 13 degrees) so I'm just happy.

Today we started with a welcome speech and everybody was there, not just people from CLIL (the course I'm doing). It was amazing, people from 14 countries of Europe together talking about teaching and education.

In the afternoon, after the lunch time, we assisted a speech about "the Easter rise,1916" (Ireland revolution) finishing the day with a quick tour around the centre of Dublin.

Time to sleep.

¡Hola a todos!

Empezamos la aventura! Llegué ayer al aeropuerto de Dublín y en este momento, la temperatura es genial (13 grados aprox) así que estoy muy feliz.

Hemos empezado con un discurso de bienvenida y todo el mundo estaba allí, no sólo la gente de AICLE (el curso que estoy haciendo). Fue increíble, personas de 14 países de Europa juntos hablando sobre la enseñanza y la educación.

Después de comer, asistimos a un discurso sobre "the easter rise, 1916" (revolución irlandesa) para terminar el día con un rápido recorrido por el centro de Dublín.

Hora de dormir.

Day 11. Final Project presentation. (Presentación del Proyecto Final)

Today has been our last day in the course and we must explain everybody how we are going to disseminate our learning through our Final Proyect. I have used Spark Video to make it, and everyone has told me that it was really good, even the teachers. So I am very proud of my work and how I have got my Ativate For Teaching Certificate.

Hoy ha sido nuestro último día en el curso y teníamos que explicarle a todo el mundo cómo vamos a diseminar nuestro aprendizaje a través de nuestro Proyecto Final. He usado Spark Video para hacerlo, y todo el mundo me ha dicho que era realmente bueno, incluso los profesores. Así que estoy muy orgulloso de mi trabajo y cómo he obtenido mi certificado de Activar tu Inglés para la Enseñanza.

Día 10. Socialization. (socialización)

We have been disscusing the different ways of socilization we know. We have also talk about the kind of parties are normal in Ireland as "housewarming party", "launch party" or "stag party", with its apropiate vocabulary too: "to rub shoulders with", "bash/do/get-together", "hang out" or "meet up".
Tomorrow is the last day and  i´m going to expose my final project.

Hemos estado debatiendo las diferentes maneras de socialización que conocemos. También hemos hablado sobre los tipos de fiestas que son usuales en Irlanda como "fiesta de inauguración de una casa", "fiesta de inicio de un negocio" o "despedida de soltero", con su apropiado vocabulario también: asociarse con gente de alto nivel (to rab shoulders with), sinónimos de fiesta (bash, do, get-together) o encontrarse con alguien por casualidad (meet up).
Mañana es el último día y voy a exponer mi proyecto final.

Día 9. Irish Sports and Visit to The Old Library and Book of Kells. (deportes irlandeses y visita al La Vieja Biblioteca y Libro de Kells)

One of my subjects is P.E. and today I have known two new sports for me, Hurling and Gaelic Football. It is good to learn other kind of sports which are a mixture between football, rugby or handball. I have also known new vocabulary as “to chip out or to solo” in relation to those games.

Another thing has been to know The Old Library and The Book of Kells. This book is very ancient and it is amazing the way they made it; tools, materials... A good thing to teach when we study The Medieval Age.

Una de mis asiganturas es Educación Física y hoy he conocido dos nuevos deportes para mi, Hurling y fútbol gaélico. Es muy bueno aprender otros tipos de deportes los cuales son una mezcla de fútbol, rugby y balón mano. También he aprendido nuevo vocabulario como "to chip out" que es hacer controles o "to solo" que es golpear el balón de los pies a las manos y pasarlo de nuevo a los pies, os cuales tiene relación con estos deportes.
Otra cosa ha sido conocer La Vieja Biblioteca y El Libro de Kells. Este libro es muy antiguo y es maravilloso la manera en la que lo hicieron; herramientas, materiales... Algo bueno para enseñar cuando estudiamos La Edad Media.

Day 8. Visit to the Science Museum. (Visita al Museo de Ciencias)

Before visiting the museum we have practised some vocabulary about this subject and Tom (the teacher) has explained one of the most strange and awesome things I have never seen. The Bog Bodies. Those bodies are fossilized remains of humans who were killed in a gruesome way 4000 years ago. They were found under the bogs, which are pieces of land with a useful function, they are used to heat the houses in some cottages areas of Ireland. Anyway, The Bog Bodies are almost preseved completely. Even you can see the shape of the skin, bones and some organs.

Antes de visitar el museo hemos practicado algo de vocabulario de este tema y Tom (el profesor) ha explicado una de las cosas más extrañas e impresionantes que jamás he visto. Los Cuerpos de la Ciénaga. Estos cuerpos son restos fosilizados de humanos quienes fueron asesinados de manera cruel hace 4000 años. Fueron encontrados debajo de las ciénagas o fangales, que son pedazos de terreno cun una útil función, son usados para calentar las casas en algunas zonas de campo de Irlanda. De cualquier manera, Los Cuerpos de la Ciénaga están caso completamente conservados. Incluso puedes ver la forma de la piel, huesos y algunos órganos.

Day 7. Irish Culture (film, novel, poetry). Cultura irandesa (cine, novela, poesía)

The best thing of today is we have been working in our groups using all our skill to be able to reach an agreement in order to do the task. We had to compare and contrast two novels, two films or two poems, and to make a diagram in which we had to explain the differences and similarities between them. After researching a little we decided to compare and contrast two Irish poems. It was very intersting the way each person has to explain his/her ideas.

Lo mejor de hoy es que hemos estado trabajando en nuestros grupos usando todas nuestras herramientas para ser capaces de llegar a un acuerdo para realizar la tarea. Teníamos que comparar y contrastar dos novelas, dos películas o dos poemas, y hacer un diagrama donde teníamos que explicar las diferencias y similitudes entre ellos. Después de investigar un poco decidimos contrastar y comparar dos poemas irlandeses. fue muy interesante la manera que cada persona tiene de explicar sus ideas.

Day 6. Visit to Glendalough and Kilkenny. (Visita a Glendalough y Kilkenny)

We have visited those two places in Ireland. The first one, Glendalough, is a 6th century Monastery placed in an old glacier, surrounded of two lakes and amazing landscapes.

The second one, Kilkenny, is a nice medieval town full of history and curiosities.

Hemos visitado estos dos lugares en Irlanda. El primero, Glendalouhg, es un Monasterio del siglo VI situado en un antiguo glaciar, rodeado de dos lagos y de asombrosos paisajes.

El segundo, Kilkenny, es una bonita ciudad medieval repleta de historia y curiosidades.

Day 5. Science and technology in our Lives. (Ciencia y tecnología en nuestras vidas)

Today, we have discussed about the different types of technologies we usually use in our lives.
It has been very interesting to know how for some people some  tools are more important than other ones.
And the best thing has been to make a survey to people from other countries who we didn´t know, because we have been able to use our English in other way.

Hoy, hemos debatido sobre los diferentes tipos de tecnología que usamos normalmente en nuestras vidas, Ha sido muy interesante saber cómo para algunas personas algunas herramientas son más importantes que otras.
Y lo mejor ha sido el hacer una encuesta a gente de otros países la cual no conocíamos, porque hemos sido capaces de usar nuestro inglés de otra manera.

Day 4. Irish and International cuisine. (Cocina irlandesa e international)

We have been talking about the diffent types of food we can taste here, in Ireland. One of the main dissheses is the roast or stew lamb.
The most shocking thing for me was that most of food in Dublin has been brought by inmigrants as Indians, Czechs or polish people.

Hemos estado hablando sobre los diferentes tipos de comida que podemos probar aquí, en Irlanda, uno de los principales platos es el cordero asado o estofado.
Lo más impactante para mí fue que la mayoría de la comida en Dubín ha sido traída por inmigrantes como indios, checos o polacos.

Day 3. Irish and European Art (Arte Irlandés y Europeo)

It has been a good day because I showed them how we work in JABY´s School. I introduced them in the use of the tablet as a skill to teach and learn. I perfomed my presentation with the Prezi App and they asked me about how we teach with this App and other too.

In the arfernoon, we visited the Ntional Gallery of Art and we took some photographs in order to compare Irish and other Europen painters.

Ha sido un buen día porque les he mostrado cómo trabajamos en el Colegio JABY. Les he introducido en el uso de la tablet como una herramienta para enseñar y aprender. He realizado mi presentación con la App de Prezi y me han preguntado sobre cómo enseñamos con esta App y con otras.

Por la tarde, hemos visitado la Galería Nacional de Arte y tomamos algunas fotografías para comparar los pintores irlandeses y los europeos.

Day 2. Images of Culture and Society (Imágenes de Cultura y Sociedad)

Today we were talking about the diferent pictures we took yestarday. The aim of the lesson wasn´t to discribe the images in a tourist way, but in a cultural way, which was the meanig of each picture.
Then, we had to do a practise in which we had to research about the influence of Celtics, Vikings and Normans in Ireland.

Hoy hemos estado hablando sobre las diferentes fotografías que tomamos ayer. El objetivo de la sesión no era describir como un turista las imágenes, sino de manera cultural, cuál era el significado de cada foto.
Luego, tuvimos que hacer una práctica en la cual teníamos que investigar acerca de la influencia de los Celtas, Vikingos y los Normandos en Irlanda.

Day 1. Introduction.

Today has been my first day in Dublin. After registration we have had a long introduction by the director of the course who is very and helpful.
After that, we have been separated in groups, depending of our kind of course. In my case, "Active your English for teaching B1-B2". And my tutor, Tom, speaks so clear and is easy to follow his explanations.
In the afternoon, we have been also visiting some interesting places near Trinity College.

Hoy ha sido mi primer día en Dublín. Después de registrarme hemos tenido una larga introducción por parte del director del curso que es muy servicial.
Después de eso, hemos sido separados en grupos, dependiendo de nuestro tipo de curso. En mi caso, "Active your English for teaching B1-B2". Y mi tutor, Tom, habla muy claro y es muy fácil seguir sus explicaciones.
Por la tarde, hemos estado visitando también algunos lugares muy interesantes cerca del Trinity College.
